Their story
On December 19, 1944, near Rocherath, Belgium, during the Battle of the Bulge, T/4 Kimbro led a squad ordered to mine a vital crossroads; finding it strongly held by the enemy, he left his squad under cover and, laden with mines, crawled forward alone under intense fire. Though severely wounded, he succeeded in laying the mines across the road and was killed by enemy fire while attempting to withdraw, delaying German armor and protecting withdrawing American columns. For this conspicuous gallantry he was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor.
