Their story
On July 12, 1944, near Casaglia, Italy, Sergeant Harmon single-handedly attacked three German machine gun positions that had pinned down his platoon, crawling across open ground under heavy fire and destroying the enemy emplacements with incendiary grenades. He silenced two positions despite being wounded, but was mortally wounded while assaulting the third. He was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor on October 2, 1945.
