Their story
On 13 September 1944 near Brest, France, Staff Sergeant Hallman single-handedly charged an enemy strongpoint with his carbine and grenades, and after exhausting his ammunition bluffed the surrender of 12 Germans, prompting about 75 more enemy troops in the area to surrender. He was killed by enemy sniper fire the following day, 14 September 1944, and was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor.
