Their story
As commander of the submarine USS Harder, Dealey conducted a series of aggressive patrols against Japanese shipping, most notably during the fifth patrol (May-July 1944) when he sank five enemy destroyers in four days off Tawi-Tawi, earning the Medal of Honor. He and his entire crew were lost when the Harder was sunk by Japanese depth charges on August 24, 1944, during the Battle of Dasol Bay off Luzon, Philippines; the submarine was never recovered.
