Their story
Near Tremensuoli, Italy, on May 11, 1944, First Lieutenant Waugh single-handedly assaulted and neutralized six enemy bunkers and, on May 14, two pillboxes, using grenades and his submachine gun to break the Gustav Line at that point, killing about 30 of the enemy and capturing 25 others. He was killed in action on May 19, 1944, and was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor.
