Their story
On June 8, 1944, near Grandcamp-Maisy, France, Technical Sergeant Peregory advanced alone under heavy fire up a fortified hill, leaped into an enemy trench, and using grenades and his bayonet killed 8 German soldiers and forced the surrender of about 35 others, opening the way for his battalion's advance. He was killed in action six days later on June 14, 1944, and posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor.
