Their story
Near Schevenhutte, Germany, on 19 November 1944, PFC McGraw manned a heavy machine gun from his foxhole during a fierce German counterattack, delivering accurate fire that halted the enemy advance and knocking out hostile machine guns despite being wounded. When his ammunition was exhausted he fought on with a carbine until he was mortally wounded by a burst from a machine pistol, his stand helping to repulse the attack.
